Bolt Castle

One of the places we like to visit in the summer is Bolt Castle which is located on Heart Island in the Thousand Islands, which is in the St. Lawrence River of New York near Canada. We travel to  Alex Bay, NY and take a boat ride to the Island.  This castle was originally built in 1900 as a summer dream home.  It is 6 stories high and has 120 rooms.  It sat vacant for 70 years before it was bought and restoration has taken place since then.  I visited the castle for the first time in the 1970s when it was opened for tours and was covered with graffiti.  Many parts of it are now restored and are beautiful to see.  Each time the castle there are more rooms that have been restored.
Our family visited the castle last summer and these are the photos I took as my husband and kids were going up the grand staircase and then upper stairs.

I used the scraplift challenge from XOXO.  It is to use 4 photos with the 6X6 grid.  This worked out perfect to show most of the stairs we traveled up in the castle. There are a couple more days to enter their March Challenge at XOXO.  And if you are in upstate New York and need a place to visit head to Boldt Castle at Heart Island.  You can find their information HERE.

Camp Bedford

I used the March 15th sketch from Stuck Sketches to create this LO from our Boy Scout camping trip last May.  I was able to use lots of different papers and some fun embellishments.  I used some gesso on a page from an old book as part of the layering behind my photos.

These photos show us relaxing after our hike through the wilderness.  We had no running water and used an out house all weekend.  It was very cold at night and most of the morning.  But I survived.
The deadline for entries for this sketch challenge is March 29th.  You have a few more days so if you have some scrap time go ahead and try this one.

It's all about the little things

I should say the little things on cars.  My husband loves his old Corvette and I love my 2013 Dodge Charger.  So we had to take a photo of the two cars next to each other.  I love that I can drive my car all year round and really enjoy it.  My husband loves having a collectable car.  Yet, he doesn't get to drive it in the winter.  He certainly enjoys driving with the top down in the summer.

I used my March Scrapbook Circle Kit and their sketch to create this LO.  When I saw the car on the journaling card I knew it  was a perfect match for my LO.
If you need a little inspiration head on over to the Scrapbook Circle blog to see some awesome LOs with this sketch. While there you may find some other great ideas for scrapping your next photos.

Smash It

This is from softball season 2013.  My daughter up at the plate swinging away.  I used the March 1st sketch from Stuck Sketches and the Kitchen Keepsake Challenge to use 4 of everything on my LO.

I loved this paper that I found and so I used some coordinating paper from my kit for the lined paper behind my photos.  Then I used scrap paper to make the half circle and to put my date on my page.  I also used 4 pieces of ribbon and 4 wooden stars.
